Company History

Mr. S. K. Pasari, founder of Electronic Control Components & Devices - ECCD, is an Electronics Engineer from the Birla Institute of Technology(BIT), Mesra-Ranchi, India. Post his engineering degree in 1978, he worked at M/s. Debikay Electronics Limited (an electronics manufacturing company in collaboration with French company M/s.CGEE Alsthom).

During his service years, he noticed that the stored Printed Circuit Board (PCBs) would neither work in the control panel nor at servicing sites even after successful testing. He discovered that due to improper handling and pulling-out of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) from the storage lot, some of the mounted components became defective and the soldering of components were also getting damaged. Upon further investigating, he also discovered how the occurrence of ‘static phenomena’ damages the assembled printed circuit boards, integrated circuits, and other such components. In an effort to resolve the issues of improper handling of PCBs, the seeds of ECCD were planted.

Upon further researching, he found the ESD-Conductive PCB Storage Rack Systems, ESD- Conductive Containers & ESD-Safe Packaging Bags suitable for protection from Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) as well as from Mechanical Damage. He further studied in detail and was convinced that a good market can be developed for these products in India. Thus, ECCD came into form with the idea to provide world class solutions for the proper and ESD-Safe handling of PCBs for the Indian electronics industry.

He then formally formed Electronic Control Components & Devices on 8 th July, 1983.

When he started with the marketing of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Products in India in 1983, nobody was aware of these products, its uses and applications. There was total and absolute ignorance among the then existing electronic manufacturing companies about Electrostatic Discharge, how it exists and affects their products and manufacturing processes.

The electronic manufacturing companies in India were reluctant to invest initially, as they were using only ordinary wooden or plastic trays and, they had such regular working tables with them. They were also using ordinary plastic bags and boxes for handling printed circuit boards(PCBs)/Modules, ICs and Components. We demonstrated to them that all plastic products generate huge static-charges which is the cause for damage of their products, and how by using our ESD-Safe Systems & Products, they will prevent any build-up of static charges. Most significantly, our ESD-Products have lifetime warranty and there is only initial investment.

During the period between 1983 to 1985, he also created a brand name called ‘ECCD’ using the initial letters of the company name Electronic Control Components & Devices. He created the company logo with the brand name ECCD, which we all identify with now. This logo design is the brainchild of our founder Mr. S. K. Pasari, which is still in use in present day. This logo is in perfect symmetry from all angles and dimensions exhibiting his brilliance in engineering and design.

We explained to companies through different illustrations and experiments as to how this electrostatic charge build-up is invisible and inevitable. And, that it is the primary cause of damage to the PCBs resulting in huge downtimes. But, with the use of our Electro- Conductive ESD-Safe Products & Systems in their manufacturing processes they can prevent this generation of static charges, resulting in reduced failures of their electronic assemblies. Our systems proved to have double advantage with protection from both Electrostatic Discharge and Mechanical Damage.

We very well convinced our prospective customers in all ways about the superiority of our products and materials by satisfying all their technical queries. We gave them complimentary samples so that they can experience our products hands-on over a period of time in their processes. We also assured them that with the use our products in their manufacturing processes, the failure rating of their products will minimize and the longevity of their products will increase, proving it to be a wise investment. This was thus proved when they experienced the use of our product samples.

Further, we also convinced our prospective clients that our products would help them save high repair & service costs, prevent loss of reputation and maintain goodwill. On the whole, they would gain much more value from our products and this would significantly enhance their operations in the long run.

Initially, we received lukewarm response for the ESD products in the Indian market, though people appreciated the products. They were convinced that our ESD-Safe Systems are most sophisticated for handling Printed Circuit Boards(PCBs) and ESD-sensitive Electronic Components/ICs to avoid possible damage from Electro-Static Charges.

We undertook extensive publicity by touring all parts of India through personal visits, organising widespread product demonstrations to stalwarts in the electronics manufacturing industry, publishing information about our ESD-Safe Products in all leading magazines and journals. In our opinion, our ESD-Systems were decision-making products and hence we contacted competent people and trying our best to explain the applications of such ESD-Safe Products & Systems in detail. We campaigned for our ESD-Systems under the banner heading ‘Antistatic PCBs & Components Handling System’ in India.

This helped them understand the effectiveness of this new technology called ESD-Safe Products & Systems. In one instance, after a product demonstration, one of the directors of a leading electronics manufacturing company told our founder Mr. S. K. Pasari that India is 25 years behind in being able to use this technology in its manufacturing processes. Our founder confidently replied that, instead, if they use ECCD products, India will become 25 years ahead !

Our efforts and convictions started to bear fruits within two years of extensive marketing. In the start, our customers made small investments which later culminated into large orders as they realized the significance of our products and its advantages.

We have put tremendous efforts in the business promotion activities and today we have emerged victorious with a large number of satisfied customers all over the Indian territory. We have been successful in introducing ESD-Safe Products & Materials to the Indian electronics industry. ECCD is well known for the supply of ESD-Safe Antistatic PCBs/Components Handling Systems in India. Our clientele has increased by leaps and bounds over time. It includes most major electronics manufacturing companies in India. Our oldest customers from 1985 still continue to support us with their business and confidence that they show in our capabilities.

Our participation in the “Internepcon /Semiconductor India Exhibition held in November, 1986” proved very successful for us. Our visitors were from the top brass of the major electronics manufacturing companies of the time in India. ECCD is very well experienced, technically sound and fully aware of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Products and their applications. We have faced many challenges in the past 40 years, pioneered many new facets of the industry and has today emerged as pioneers and market leaders of ESD Technology in India.
